My hobby is scavenging aluminum cans

I work a job that is mostly office work, and hobby is scavenging in garbage cans, dumpsters and along roadsides for discarded aluminum cans.

I love my job and pour my heart and soul into it, and yet I find that I need variety -- so of all the things that I could spend my leisure time, I choose to scavenge around neighborhoods and along roads and collect aluminum beverage cans that people have discarded.

Part of this comes from a long-term enthusiasm about recycling and conservation of natural resources.  I feel sadness with how many people apparently don't recycle cans and other items, even with as accessible as it has become in recent years.

Another aspect is that I need adventure, and I'm not an indigenous person who goes out on the hunt or even a modern day hunter; however, hunting for cans stimulates my imagination and creativity.

I have been doing this on and off for at least fifteen years, and I have lots of stories to share about people who see me scavenging, things that I have found, what I do with the cans after finding them, etc... I'll share more about this in future posts.
